JVC Digital Photo Problems?

I am having problems trying to get Digital Photo's from camcorder to pc. I have got a JVC gr-dvx44 i have connected the lead to com 1, and then into the camcorder socket pc digital photo. I am using jlip video capture to scan for devices in com 1 but it says no device? every time i scan. And the camcorder is set to play at the same time. Normally it says it's found the device and then i use the dv controller to take my digital photos, from the camera and all other functions rewind/fast forward etc. But this is not working because it does not find the device in the begining.
