I know there are tons of posts on modding xboxs on here and ive searched and read through a ton of them. My eyes are going crazy but between the amount of chips out there and the drips and drabs of info i get from each post im not sure what i need
Want to play backup CDR DVD-RW
Which Chip? I dont mind soldering, i just want everythign to work
Do i need anything else other then the chip?
Do i need any specific software to burn them or have my computer recognizr xbox discs?
Do i need a router or crossover cable?? to do what?
Do i need a chip programmer?

software list you need/use consists of
craxtion or qwix (to make an xbox iso image)
flashfxp (ftp to your box)
depending on what chip you have, you dont need a programmer, ie the xecuter 2, 2.3b lite plus is pre flashed with a cromwell bios, you can use a cdrw to reflash with a new bios you can use to play backups etc. (to create an xecuter2 bios, use x2 bios manager)
stomp recordnow max, I prefere to burn an xbox iso
some people do have success with Nero and others.
Also you will need to find out what dvd drive is in your xbox, and what version your xbox is, (1.0 to 1.5)

some people use a router (especially if you have a high speed connection to the net from your pc)use a standard CAT5 etc type cable for this.
some use a crossover cable and connect the pc NIC directly to the xbox.
There are a lot of great useful tools, if you have IRC check out xbins on efnet servers, (cant give you full instructions how to get there Im fraid:-) its kinda not allowed, you should be able to find it easy rnough by looking around the net)
