i installed aspi and it fixed the problem, the rest of the program worked great after that. i have another question though. instead of burning two vcds, can i burn the mpeg-1 video's on dvd-rw instead?
thanks

Actually yes you can -- only thing what you need is to Demux the resulting MPEG-1 file into .m1v and .mp2 files, use your DVD authoring software to load those files and burn it as DVD-Video -- using this method you can have 450mins of VCD on one DVD-R disc that your stand-alone DVD player actually _can_ play :-)

If u play the dvd in your DVD software first it wil unlock the files, U dont have to play it for long though, couple of secs.

thanks for the dvd burning advice. since i don't have any blank dvd-rws, i thought i'd burn a vcd for now. i'm using roxio easy cd creator 5 platinum. when i go to add my mpeg file, i get a message that says "the file will not work in a vcd player. to make this video cd compliant you will need to use an mpeg encoder that supports video cd encoding" i thought tmpgenc already did this?

UMH? Yes, TMPGEnc definately did that. Did you use VCD.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">VideoCD (whatever, PAL, NTSC, NTSCFilm) template with TMPGEnc?
Does Nero say anything more detailed about the file?

Does EZCD say anything further what is wrong with the file? Which VCD.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">VideoCD template did you use? And try Nero as well, see if it throws you an error about the file as well.

this si all it said.
i used videocd ntsc template.
i don't have nero, so i'm just running tmpgenc again. we'll see what happens this time.
thanks

ok, i did it again and tried to burn using other vcd software and the message i got was that the format must be
ntsc/film 352x240 29.97 hz
it also said audio must be 22.44.1 khz.
(even though the audio properties say it's this)
so i guess when i set up the mpeg settings in tmpgenc, i should have changed these? i'm thinking so :)
the dvd plays great on my pc, but would like it on a disk, guess i'll have to start again and follow the guide this time :)
oh well, i have time to burn. no pun intended :)

OK, I'm having the same error message too. I am also using EZ cd creator 5. I have a digital camera and I save the images to a disk. I want to take those images & create a video cd / slideshow but everytime I choose one or all the files, I get that wonderful same message, "the file will not work in a vcd player. to make this video cd compliant you will need to use an mpeg encoder that supports video cd encoding".
also in comment from lifeizgud, dated 1/4/02, mentioned "tmpgenc" what does this stand for?
any help on how I can convert my files to mpeg so that it will work on a dvd player? Does EZ CD creator 5.0 have include an encoder, or do I need to purchase additional software? If additional software is needed... what software is recommended?
thanks!
TPalmeri
