Digital Cable TV turns off; RF modulator problem?

I have a tv without connections on front. I have Digital Cable TV and a vcr/dvd combo. In order to hook up the vcr/dvd to tv, I had to go through a RF modulator. This has been working fine, till 2 days ago. TV suddenly went out. I had cable box "refreshed" but no good. Then, I just rechecked connections and it worked. Until last nite, now when I rehook up RF modulator, I get cable tv, but only for 3 seconds or so. It just turns off. Does anyone know what the problem is?

I'm able to watch tv again bc I unhooked dvd/vcr and removed RF modulator. This is only a short term fix.
