Ive been trying to convert a xvid .avi file to SVCD using DVD2SVCD. I set everything up right, and the audio decodes and encodes fine, then when the video starts I get this error in the log:
However, I get a popup error also that says something about the TMPGEnc NTSC.mpg file not found.. Then when I try to open TMPGEnc again it wont run and I get that ugly sound. Even restarting the computer, I had to uninstall TMPGEnc and install another version just to get it to run.. What is wrong?
does the mpeg file open correctly and play? if so, and all you are using bbMpeg for is to split the file, then you should possibly consider splitting the file yourself instead using DV Tool.. check out the tutorial here:
I can't tell you what went wrong, sounds like a program error with bbmpeg (which has given me problems in the past when using DVD2SVCD), and really nothing to do with DVD2SVCD or anything else.. the good news is you can manually take over from here and split the film, and then create the SVCD using Nero and the MPEG.
The weird thing is, I choose CCE as the encoder next, to try that, and it worked great. For some reason, when DVD2SVCD accesses TMPGEnc thru its command line prompts, it didnt work. I tried versions 2.58 and 2.57 and both had the same problem, now they both won't open at all, in standalone... Im perplexed...
yeah, that is weird.. I always use CCE with DVD2SVCD myself and never had that problem.. I actually thought about recommending it but from what you said it sounded like the problem was with bbMPEG, not TMPGenc.
if ever you are interested in a version of TMPGenc that works better with command line utilities such as DVD2SVCD, try version beta 12i that comes with VCD Galaxy found here:
