Studio 9 capture control problem

I have a strange problem with my copy of Studio 9: the left hand panel of the Diskometer (capture control) does not show the advertised Composite or S-Video choice. So, everytime I try to capture an analog video, I get a error report that says I should choose Composite or S-Video, BUT I CAN'T!
Who can help?
