Van Helsing Backup Loading Problem

I bought Van Helsing the other day, backed it up and put it on my harddrive. When I start a new game, it gets to the screen that says "... Three years later." and shows the notre dame cathedral. Then it fades to black and the loading screen comes up. And it doesn't get past that screen. It doesn't freeze it just never loads. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

did you backup to your hdd with the original or your disc backup?
did the disc play ok, (the backup one)
I just tried making a backup from the original to the hdd, worked fine.
