ok here the thing i got hold of secret window screener which is a vcd and extracted mpeg with vcd gear then tried to join the files with tempg and it came out as 160 meg losing over 800 meg any ideas people

Well there could have been corruption in the Mpeg files you are trying to join, and TMPGEnc Officially only supports files that were originally created useing TMPGEnc...I would suggest useing a Real Mpeg editor to join the files, Something like "Womble Mpeg2VCR"....
