Windows 7 passes 10 percent market share

According to new stats from Net Applications, Windows 7 has hit 10 percent market share, doing so much faster than Vista did after launch.
Overall, Microsoft controls 91.6 percent of the operating system market, with Windows XP holding 64.5 percent and Vista with 16 percent.

And well deserved too! 7 had one annoying glitch that was remedied a couple months later regarding a right click "windows error". No biggie. Compatible with ALL BUT 1 game and application I play/use which was Riven from over 10 years ago. Easy to use, stable, convenient and pretty.
Foolish XP users will soon realize that complacency will be the BORING death of them. I'd say that the vast majority of avid XP fans whom refuse to give it up are the same boring, no personality and overweight IT nerds that people can spot from a mile away..............like the one's that work in video game stores like Gamecrazy. Booksmart, just not common sense smart.

I found XP was fantastic compared to 95, 98 ( needed 2nd edition to work properly) Moronellium (most went back to 98SE) XP (Fantastic after using previous previous offerings) Vista ( still have Laptop with it)and 7. 7 is the best so far. Only problem is it hangs up occasionally, not long after start up. I turn off, then restart and it is fine. I will be upgrading the Vista to win 7 soon.

Tell you right now, I've installed on my laptop, desktop, my mom's desktop, my friend's desktop and my girlfriend's desktop and laptop totalling 6 computers using the RTM from August (2 months prior to the official release) and none have hung.
Like I said, only one annoying glitch with r. clicking and an explorer crash but that only happened for about 2 months and an update several weeks ago fixed that right up.
If you're getting a hang.......it's your computer brother. Memory leak, memory (RAM) corruption/error, bad sector on the HDD, MOBO issue or corrupt file in the Windows directory. Trust me.....it's something on your end. As this is what I do professionally, I'd bet my bottom dollar you have a H/W issue.
Take or leave the advice but many in my position would say to first check your H/W. Try a reinstall too. Windows 7 reinstalls are a cakewalk. Just did one in less than 2 hours (installing EVERYTHING)

I think you will find that the major reason why there are so many XP users has more to do with Corporate compatibility policies than it does with IT nerds. Do you know how many IT Managers got beaten up for jumping onthe ME bandwagon too soon? These same people delayed switching to Vista -- eventually deciding not to switch. So, expect them to wait a while longer before urging management to upgrade to Windows 7!

Y'know lissenup2, I hear a lot of positive things about Doze7- it looks like it might herald in 64 bit OS functionally as the standard finally (especially as it handles most old 32 bit apps easily). Heck, there's even finally a new version of Agent Ransack (a 32 and 64 bit version for Win7).
I look forward to installing it as a dual boot with XP (just so I can run the odd program that just wont work with it). DX11 looks like a genuine improvement too.
But that last paragraph is a bit OTT desperate don't you reckon? ROFL I mean people will get around to it. At the rate it's going it will take over from XP eventually for sure. Really, LOL, I think most people have got a good impression of it without you telling them how fat and stupid they are if they don't go for it straightaway... unless that's for your benefit. ;)

Memory leaks are a software issue, not hardware. The memory itself doesn't "leak", shoddy programs and/or explorer issues cause memory to not be returned to an accessible state once the program is shut down, or cause a continual buildup of improperly used memory blocks until useable RAM is gone completely.
Win7 is designed to almost eliminate these issues tho as it's mem handler is much improved over previous versions.
It could easily be a 3rd party driver hang as well and this can be found using MSCONFIG to shut down all but essential drivers/services during a diagnostic bootup. If the problem goes away, start adding other drivers again 1x1, rebooting until prob returns. Now you know which is causing the issue.
