hey everyone i did a glossry serach on this quesion and really never found a straight up answer, so heres my question?? i have done alot of dvd burning recently and these are primarly back ups of the orginals that i own, i really began to notice some picture quality get blurry at times mainly when theres a close up of a face or in depth colour now the discs that i used so far are princos and hyper media is this problem caused from compression ratio or is it just poor quality dvd-rs?
p.s i use dvd shrink if i delete main menus and so on will that make a difference with the picture quality?

It sounds like the classic symtoms of large, or excessive compression to me.

When you backup your movie with shrink do you remove all unwanted sound streams in order to maximise the space for the main movie? Tnat can help. Do you use the "Deep Analysis" function, that can also help.

If you are after better results it may well be worth yourself doing some research on Pinnacle Instant copy & the DVDRebuilder/CCEbasic option for backups.

These effect will appear on ANY media, good or bad.

Ps Prinso's are TERRIBLE disks, throw them out, feed them to the dog, do anything but don't put them anywhere near your DVD writer.

Looking for my old AD

For the rest of your Khypermedias, I'd suggest dropping the burn speed and reducing the target file size to 4.3 GB or somewhere thereabouts. It may help :)
