Hi evo5zigen, welcome to the club,
The most I've ever done is 6 hours maybe a few minutes more, I have done 12 episodes but you're looking at close to 9 hours - I?ve got absolutely no idea - I suggest that you ask them that knows, the ones who told you they did it -
Sorry, wish you luck -
Good luck -
Pete
If you?re not worried about any kind of quality, try compressing with Shrink then jamming in DVD2One - just a thought - still, don?t think it?ll get anywhere near your goal -

OK. If each episode is only 215mb each and you can only fit 3 on a disc... are we talking CD or DVD?
3 files that size should fit onto a standard CD. Doing some math indicates that you should be able to fit 20~ such files onto a standard DVD, max.
Unless, maybe, the files are VCD or SVCD and being burned onto a DVD.

Kakashi, All files are "data". You should be able to burn them onto a disc with just about any DVD recording program.

Hi evo5zigen,
Use an MPEG2 encoder before you author your disc, that is, before you use TMPGEnc DVD Auhtor.
Good MPEG2 encoders (trial versions available for all of them):
- TMPGEnc DVD Source Creator (40 $)
- TMPGEnc Plus (50 $)
- CCE Basic (60 $)
By adjusting the bit rate and/or the image resolution in the MPEG encoder, you can adjust the size of the final MPEG2 files. That way you can put 6 hours on a single DVD-R (or even a bit more).
On the other hand, I'm amazed that Nero lets you put only 3 episodes on a disc. It means about 1 hour of video on a disc. Are you talking of NeroVision Express ? If so, have a look at the "quality" setting. It's "normal quality" by default, which means about 2 hours. But you can set it to "low quality", which should give you 4 hours on a single DVD-R.
Cheers,
Daba

Quote: 3 files that size should fit onto a standard CD. Doing some math indicates that you should be able to fit 20~ such files onto a standard DVD, max
Unless, maybe, the files are VCD or SVCD and being burned onto a DVD. .
What we might want to consider is do we, wish to play these on a D VD player at some time in the future ?
Quote: All files are "data". You should be able to burn them onto a disc with just about any DVD recording program.
Using that logic, why then do we have so many different programs ? If everything is Data then we don't need so many software programs to play them back either. We can just get by with a text program and anything that supports a JPG or a GIF because what are videos but a lot of still pictures being flipped one after another.
Quote: what is video_ts and audio_ts?
They are folders holding your IFO,BUP's and VOB files the ingredients of a DVD movie, housed inside of a VIDEO_TS Folder, that you can burn to disc, the results of which are called a DVD movie.
As Daba suggested you've some work ahead -
You'll need to use something like TMPGEnc to render your AVI files into DVD compliant MPEG2;'s THEN a Authoring program like TMPGEnc DVD Author to take your MPPEG files to your needed IFO's, BUP's and VOB's. These you'll put into a VIDEO_TS folder and put into DVD Shrink to compress then compile using DVD Shrink in the re-Author mode OR DVD2One using the "Join" mode.
Gentlemen, there is a wealth of information here in A/D dealing with the AVI to DVD project you have ahead of you but you'll have allot of fun learning, we all did, and you will too -
cheers and Welcome to the Club :D)

with regard to burning i'm a definite newbie, but when it comes to conversion i've tried them all. The best program that I have found out there is from Cucusoft, its called AVI to mpg converter. http://www.cucusoft.com They have a very versatile, very user friendly, even for newbies, fast, and great quality converter. It'll change your AVI file to VCD,SVCD,dvd and other various formats. It can do a batch conversion or merge avi's together into one file. They have a standard and pro version. I use the pro version, and not once had a problem, I highly recommend it. Good luck
