All, I am totally new to this game and can't even get past the set-up stage. I am following a guide that has all the preferences listed on how to set-up DVD shrink fopr the first time, but once I have gotten past the BACK-UP preferences, the application seems to think for a while and then comes up with an error along the lines of "can't continue, I/O error encountered." I am using Nero and am trying to burn at once. Does anybody have a site for me to visit that has the correct preference settings?

you shouldn't have to change any settings. Just install and start shrinking away.

Make sure you are using compatible, quality media.
Under Edit, Preferences, File I/O, select enable burning with Nero.
