nero/shrink or decrypter/shrink. Please answer truthfully.

The only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask. If you don't ask you will never know.

hi xbadboy2
I doubt that it really matters as far as quality goes.
The only real difference is that the shrink/decypter,method is freeeeee

It depensa what you want to do. If you are just making backups free is the way to go. If you will be doing other cd/dvd stuff or other stuff that is in Nero then use it it's excellent

Nero/shrink my man is you best port of call.Nero is improveing all the time and does so many other things as well and is a all round good performer for all your needs.I use many different copying software but life would not be the same without my trusted Nero to fall back on in times of need.

I'm with jim_dandy on this one. I don't really know what that quote really stands for...I've tried a bunch of different software programs, some claim to be the best, some claim to be the easiest or being the most versatile. If you go through the trouble of learning and using SHRINK and DECRYPTER 2-3 times, you won't find anything better for DVD copying. Nero may have some added features with CD's and transcoding home movies but even then you can find better. I think Nero only looks really good when compared to Roxio and if you are told you can use only ONE piece of software till next Christmas.

Well I thought the thread was about, what makes the better backup. In which case as I said before,I dont think there is any difference between the shrink/nero and the shrink/decrypter.
The method I use is shrink/nero,but just because thats what I started out doing,(before shrink had the create the iso feature).
I have used both methods though.
As other members have said,if you dont do anything but backup dvd's then free is the way to go.

I don't really see what the use of this question is. It's the classic 'Apples and Oranges thing...' If you want to burn CD's, edit home movies, copy DVD's, CD's, and so many other things, then the Nero Suite has the most to offer. What is missing is that Shrink is needed for decryption and Shrink is more versatile in letting you choose different options (subtitles, soundtracks, credits, etc.). Sometimes Decrypter will decrypt a DVD that Shrink occasionaly get stumped by. In conclusion: once you have Nero, why not install both Shrink and Decrypter? The best combo is Nero/Shrink/Decrypter.

Your right siber, its a must to have shrink, and decrypter, if you want to backup dvds.I thought this thread was about, which did the better job of backing up dvds, so I was going with that idea.I have shrink(which i use about 98% of the time) decrypter(when shrink wont cut it) and,DVD2One, along with Nero, that covers most of my dvd needs.

For general all around handy dandy stuff you need DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter and Nero. That pretty much covers all the bases. The Holy Trinity of dvd software.

Nero is a great all around program for doing many htings and it has been greatly improved in the last couple of months.

For rippers you can usually use shrink, every once in a while when shrink can't crack one you need decrypter. Decrypter smashes the protection open with a heavy handed approach while shrink wiggles it open, this is why if you are using these programs you should always try shrink first. So to give you a short version Nero is great if you will use it, if not use Shrink and Decrypter together.
