I have been out of the loop for awhile but can someone please recommend a good DVD-R brand for my Pioneer DVR-106D? I have read some reviews about Ritek GO4 being the best for this burner but I would like another opinion. Also, can someone recommend a good online dealer to buy the recommended disks from? Lately I have been using Memorex DVD-R 4x media without a problem but with all the talk about disk longevity I am getting a little worried about the backups that I have already made with these disks. Thanks in advance.

Ritek G04 has worked for me very well. I have used the Ritek Purple branded and Ridisc grade A ones.

Princo branded 4x was crap and CMC E01 8x dvd+r (platinum brand) crap also.

Branded Ritek G04 seems very much ok for decent price.

Ritek Branded DVD-R's work beautifully with this drive. In general you can say Pioneer drives like Ritek DVD's. Just make sure you buy grade A Riteks.

Can someone explain what branded means? Also, can someone provide a link to a reseller?

Londor, newegg is where I get all of my DVD media. They are the cheapest that I have found. I use the Ritek +R 8x media. Not one coaster that was the fault of the media.
