I used to use a cat5e cable with my xbox to my router, then connect my PC to my XBOX through FTP, that lasted a couple months maybe, I don't remember... then it started acting very slow when moving files to the XBOX from PC, like 70kb/s and I changed the cable to a cat6 cable and then got my normal speeds back (7-9mb/s) and ive been using this cat6 cable for a good 6 months I guess. But today when I tried moving files to the XBOX the speeds were around 70kb/s and it would take hours for the files to transfer. I don't understand this crap! Now, do i gotta buy a cat cable every so often because they go bad? i just don't understand it

any ideas?

I just bought a new cat6 UTP cable and the speeds are still slow, can anybody help why it's slow all a sudden? Even with a new cat6 cable.

Please, if anybody can help me I would greatly appreciate it. If you know of an alternative way of transfering files to XBOX via FTP and not using a cat cable, please explain. I need to transfer files to my xbox. I don't understand why it's going soooo slow. =(

Ive had similiar problems. I just got a wireless router and my transfer speeds are around 500K a second instead of the usual 7-9m a second. I tried turning off passive mode and tried different cables both to no avail.

grab urself a wireless g router, lynksys is the best i think, then get a bridge or a gammin bridge, bother are the same eb the gammin is like 60$ cheaper. u connect ur pc with a G card and u use the router to send the signal between ur com an xbox, or just straight from ur xbox to ur pc

o ok ic what ur tlakin about, yea just go an get a bridge and itll come with some softwear taht ull load on ur comp and ull connect the bridge to ur comp threw the theithernet so u can configur it to ur channel and ssid ext. after that ull connect it to ur xbox. once u got that done get a XBOXFTP program and set the addy to the 192.168.1.xxx ip, whichever it may be then ur set to send files to ur box and retrive an deleat them too. just put xbox ftp in google and a few will come up. and im sure u already have an os that supports file transfers
