Hi,

I am really a newbie on this area, but I have read a lot these last few weeks about encoding, ripping etc of movies. Last week I downloaded a movie and looked for the properties in AVICodec:

File: 696 MB (696 MB), duration: 1:42:00, type: AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 50 %
Video: 596 MB, 817 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 576*320 (16:9), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4, Supported
Audio: 100 MB, 137 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3, Supported

I could make a super vcd with it, but then I would need multiple cd's. That's why I tried to found out how to put it on a dvd -R so my dvd-player would play it. There are many stories on the web for this problem and I also tried to follow the guide on this site (xvid on dvd) but TEMPGenc says that the medium is not big enough (7,4 Gb !!) Finnaly I gave it up and tried to burn super-vcd's in Nero on multiple cd-roms. I didn't know how to get this done because Nero thinks that you only want to burn the movie on ONE cd. For that the file is to big (almost 2 Gb). So I have to split it, but then I should convert it to an Mpeg2 without burning it. What do I need for that ? And what about splitting audio and video ? Isn't there any easier way to burn this xvid avi to only one dvd ?
I have many tools like TEMPGenc Plus, IFO-edit, Nero 6 with mpeg2 encoder plugin, virtualdub etc.

Please help me !! I am getting desperate.....

p.s. this movie isn't yet released on dvd. If it is I will buy it, but I really want to see it now already !!
