I am attempting to merge multiple MPEG 2 files using the Merge feature under the MPEG Tools option in TMPGENC.
I am merging 3 files: my high school basketball highlight video, high school graduation, and lastly a 15 minute highlight basketball video.
Each individual video plays without problems, before the merge, in Windows Media Player.
However, when I merge the 3, in the order above, ONLY the video and audio portion of the highlight video is out of snych. Even in the one big merged MPEG file, the video and audio still sync perfectly during playback, only when I get to the portion with the 3rd video does it fall out of sync.
You can not use the TMPGEnc "Merge & Cut" feature to properly merge or cut any files as they will allways go out of Sync....What you have to do is use a real Mpeg editor like "Womble Mpeg2VCR" or "Womble Mpeg Video wizard" , these are the only Mpeg editors that I know of that will not cause sync problems.....
Well it depends on what type of editing you are doing....Womble Mpeg2VCR is good for more Basic Cutting and Joining and can even add some simple Transitions to the Video without re-encodeing the whole file and they both support AC3 audio....
The "Womble Mpeg Video Wizard" is more of a Full featured Mpeg editor that will also allow you to mix AVI files with Mpeg files, it uses a Timeline interface and it has some simple effects and transitions and it can also transcode your Files to mpeg1/2 if you want....I went out and Bought both of these Programs but I now usually use the Mpeg Video Wizard more often than Mpeg2VCR these days, I guess it was a waste of $100.....Good Luck
Thank you... I think I will get the Womble MPEG2VCR because I am in to the lets get in done quick, simple, and good approach. I dont want all the fancy effects.
Bad news! :-( I tried Womble MPEG2VCR using the exact same MEPG files, exact same order of the files, exact everything and the exact problem still occurs. The playback of the one big combined file still messes up only on the 3rd segment(audio falls out of synch with video). I guess it had nothing to do with TMPGEnc, maybe it is because the audio has suspect quality on the last (3rd) segment. I guess the audio and video are good enough to stay in synch when played alone, but when combined with the first two segments, it falls out of synch.
Maybe try editing a few Frames off of the Beginning and the end of that 3rd file because there might be an audio gap and the begginning or end that is causeing the Sync problem and editing a few seconds off of the beginning and end migh get rid of the audio.Video gap....Just a Thought....good luck
I completely wiped all of these files off of my computer because they were captured with the ADS device. I am going to start from scratch after I get the Canopus and hopefully this will solve the problem with merging multiple MPEG files.... Well, I guess I will have to figure out how to convert them from AVI to MPEG first, before I merge, because the Canopus captures in AVI format and not MPEG.
Well if you get a Good Video editing Program Like Adobe Premier or Vegas Video then they have built in High Quality Mpeg encoders and there are a few Standalone Mpeg encoders that work well also but there are only about 4 encoders out there that are really worth useing like Mainconcept Encoder and Canopus Procoder ,TMPGEnc, and CinemaCraft Encoder....Cheers
