Three rapidly blinking red lights forming three-quarters of a circle on the Xbox 360's "ring of light" is unintentionally one of the most observed features of the Xbox 360 console, at least for units made before 2008. The "red ring of death", RROD/3ROL, represents a general hardware failure, but unlike the E74 error with a single blinking red light, there is no onscreen message to explain whats going on.

Cant say I agree..but I think that if you take into account the bigger fan instead of the 2 smaller ones and the vents being relocated in the New Xbox then you really do see an improvement in the success rate..at least in theory
It would have been nice if M$ would have made the unit's cooling system (fan) servicable by the user. In other words, a way the user can access & clean the fan & heatsinks. They do get dirty (dust, pet hair, etc)
