Hi everyone

I've read in this forum about Mitsui (or MAM-A now) cd-r quality being degraded. Whats the status of it now?

I can order a 100 pack from a nearby store. they offer 3 kinds: Golden Dye, Silver Gold, and Golden.
(the Golden Dye being cheaper than Silver Gold, and Silver Gold being cheaper than Golden)

Can someone tell me what are the differences between those kinds? and which one should i go for? And how are those kinds compare to Taiyo Yuden cdr's (which i can also get here)

Thanks

I haven't bought any of the new MAM discs, so I can't comment on the quality issue. I have used the old Mitsui discs and they are excellent.

As for the dye: Silver and Gold refer to the reflective layer on the disc, not the dye color. The dye color is always a golden color (whether you get the Silver or Gold discs). Silver is slightly more reflective than gold and therefore it should be supposedly easier for more CD drives to read them. Gold is more stable over long periods and more resilient to extreme storage conditions (sunlight, heat, etc.).

Taiyo Yuden (the company that invented CD-R) also makes excellent discs, but their dye is different (light green). As to which is better is probably just a matter of preference.

Are Mitsui in any way related to Mitsubushi (which make excellent discs btw)?

No. Don't get them confused with Mitsumi either.
