HI everybody.
Do you have any idea about this phenomena? I ripped DVD @ encoded to Mpeg1 V Mpeg2 with TMPGEnc @ DVDx and used Nero to burn them on CD-RW. On my PC I used PowerdDVD to play them. All trials work great. VCD from both encoders SVCD in the same way.
NOW comes the hopp!
I tried to play them on my stand alone DVD player ELTA (certainly with built in ability to play VCD & SVCD in CD, CD-R & CD-RW).
They start to play, the picture has randomly stattered big blocks in different colors but not in each frame. Sometimes it stops for a little while and continues.
I inserted a factory prepared VCD into ELTA @ it played without any error.
I made a copy of that CD to CD-RW @ the copy produced the same ugly bigblock effect.
Using nero it turned out that some error are on the CD-RW. But my PC with LG DVD-ROM plays it withot apparent problem.
What to do? Try to burn on CD-R and say ELTA is unable to play CD-RW? Shoul I take ELTA back to the shop? I bought it few days ago.
Many thanks for helping me.
I say if you are looking for a great deal, return your DVD player and go for the Apex.. my friend bought his at Wal-Mart for $50.00, and it plays everything you throw at it without hitch!
Thanks.
Be careful with ELTA! It really does not work well with CD-RW media. But it was the cheapest DVD for 140 USD only (Budapest, Hungary, Metro Supermarket). It is able to play CD-R VCD and SVCD correctly so I might make compromise.
Well, it is not fair to state CD-RW compatibility.
With Nero, you should seriously consider burning at a lower speed than your cds maximum!
Also I was wondering, is the vcd standard compilant (eg Mpeg-1 Video-CD 1150k/bits vid + 44100kz 224kbits/sec audio). Also, do you have the correct frame rate (29.97fps America + 25fps Europe).
Fine, thaks.
I did burning at the lowest available (2x) speed with Nero as well. Not improved. Btw a different brand of CD-RW (RIDATA)functioned a bit better than TDK. My CD-RW ROM is Fujitsu-Siemens (12x8x32). Maybe not ELTA but Fujitsu should be blamed... I really dont know.
Burning to CD-R is brilliant, yeh.
Thanks for taking care my question!
