hi

I have a really weird problem whenever i try to burn a .bin image file. I have the .cue file too but when i try to burn it i get an erros message that nero (or any other burning program i use)can't find the .bin file.

I know the files are ok because i downloaded them with emule a lot of times and this problems happen with image files i did burn correctly a few weeks ago.

I noticed thet windows doesn't show the extension oh the bin file in the name and that's weird 'cause the extension isn't associated with any software. A few weeks ago this didn't happen to me.

Right now i'm using winiso to convert the .bin to .iso but i don't know if it works allright because it doesn't use the cue file and the iso archives end up smaller than the .bin

PLEASE HELP ME

PD: sorry for the grammar and another problems in the message, i think you can noticve i am foreign

.bin file and .cue sheet must be same name. If .bin file is s*it, then you can´t burn it. But you can try a CD-RW disc raw-data burning..

the bin has the same name and i'm 100% positive that the .bin is ok, because is the sharereactor ut2003 and it happens in all of the 3 cds.

By the way, the iso conversion with winiso does change the files opr i can use it to burn the cds???

Edit the cue file. I bet that the path name to the bin file is incorrect. Just use notepad to open the cue file and you will see what I mean.

the names are ok, I have checked it over and over, and thousends of people have dowloaded the exact same files and i'm the only one with the problem.

Any other suggestions???
I think it has something to do with the bin archive not sowing the extension

I am having the same problem. I'm new to this. I made sure the the image name in cue sheet is the
same as the bin file name. Using nero. Can't find file error message. Tried naming the cue sheet after the bin file and no change. Any help would be great...

Edit the .CUE with notepad and verify that the path to BIN file is correct.

Sorry that my previous was already suggested - I just wrote the response very quickly. Are you sure that the BIN file is actually *.bin since you say that Windows doens't show the extensions. Dont these file shared downloads sometimes need renaming , like .exe to .iso etc.

You are correct. The actual file does no contain a .bin extension. I did rename the file
with .bin ext and edited que sheet to reflect the very same file name with the path but still continue to get the same error message.
I can actually burn the bin file itself using the burn image in nero but that places only the data onto the disk and no way to install the game.

what does the BIN file look like in command prompt? If windows hides the extension, let say .EXE, and you rename it to image.bin, you actually have image.bin.exe - right?

Answering your 1st question. The file looks the same in command prompt(win2k)

2nd question. If I place the .bin at the end of the file name it simply is the file.bin and nothing else. There is no exe or image. Are you suggesting I change the actual file name to "image.bin"?

Coolunme,

If the error message is something referring that the program cant find the .BIN file, then there is isn't too many chances: The .BIN filename and the name entered to .CUE file differ, OR the software is buggy. Now if this happens with all sotwares, then the filenaming must be the issue.

it happens with all the software, and once upon a time there was a happy gamer that burned many games that he downloaded (me) and now i get the error.

Windows recognizes the file as .bin, in propierties it says it is a bin file, but the name doesn't show the extension I'm shure it has something to do with that

open windows explorer.. go to tools->folder options, and click view

uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.

This will allow you to verify the .bin extension. Also, you don't need the full path to the .bin file as long as the .bin and .cue files are in the same directory.

Here is a copy/paste of the actual .cue file from sharereactor for UT2003 cd1 .. compare yours to this one:

FILE "Unreal_Tournament_2003_Final.Deviance.CD1.ShareReactor.bin" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00

Now, try downloading daemon-tools from here: http://www.cd-rw.org/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/daemon_tools.cfm

using daemon-tools, mount the image by selecting the .cue file, and you should be home free and able to install the game w/out burning to cd. you will need to get a no cd hack in order to play though.. I'm sure you are resourceful enough to find one of those, eh?

FYI, you can just remove the .exe extension from the .bin file instead.. anyhow, glad to have helped!

You guys are awesome
i completely forgot about using daemon tools to run the bin file, I've been writing and editing the cue and bin's for about 5 days on Unreal Tournament 2003. But i must be messing something up still, during installation i get a critical error stating it couldnt read from the file <cd> supposedly, but, it is a different file it cant read everytime i install. Wierd no? what should i do now DOH.
lemme try to change convert it to iso first and install again with daemon
