hey when i says insert disc i swap the discs but is there a special button that i have to press for it to boot correctly. ive been pressing x and it keeps getting a red outline around the screen. if you have a clue please respond......DONT HOLD BACK

You may want someone with more experience to answer your question, but I'll say what I know.

It could be a number of things:

1) Some games require the use of CD Loader to boot correctly. Check at
www.swapmagicfix.com

2) Perhaps it wasn't burned correctly, or maybe it is a bad brand of cds/dvds.

3) Switching incorrectly somehow? I don't know what kind of switch method you have, but make sure you're doing it right, we all make mistakes. Not too long ago I realized I was using Swap Magic DVD version to boot a CD which I don't believe works(haven't got the cd to work yet anyway).

You should probably supply more information about your eh...equipment and methods of booting/swapping.

you're probably insertin the game in wrong. make sure that the game is in the tray correctly and not on top of the rubber piece on the back

ive gotten it to boot a couple of times bot most of the time i get a red outline. i am using swap magis dvd version and i have the playstation2 flip-top cover thanx guys.

I am also getting the red box after switching disks. I have tried -r and +r. I am using DVD Decrypter at 1x. What is the fix for this? Thanks for any help.

fenderboy: Do you have a version 1-4 ps2. If so and you are using dvd+r then that is probably your problem because versions 1-3 can't read dvd+r and some version 4's can't either. Otherwise try the following...

Make sure your game is being inserted correctly. This means that it isn't getting caught on the back lip and that the white disc is completely connecting to the spinner. To check this boot up the swap magic disc. Now open your fliptop lid and take the white disc out of the holder. Take out the Swap Magic disc and replace it with your backup and make sure it doesn't get caught on the lip. Next, manualy place the white disc on the spinner and keep the lid up. Give the disc a spin to make sure the disc is correctly placed on the drive and that the white disc is completly attached to the spinner. Once you've got it so that it spins without any problems press x. If you get a blue border and it loads then this was your problem. If you still get a red border then it was probably a bad in which you should:
1. Try burning to a quality media like Ritek, Fujfilm, or Memorex
2. Try burning it using DVD Decrypter using the guide in this thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/15105 . Make sure you burn it at 1x and create an image file to the HD.

If it still doesn't work after trying all this then it must be your laser in which case I would recomend you clean it with a que-tip and some rubbing alcohol. Hope this helps.
