Hi everyone outthere, I have a xbox v1.0 with the thompson dvd drive, I was wondering if i can take that drive out and hook on another dvd drive(like Dvd+-R/RW Writer, I was gonna use it for a pc). If yes, can you tell me how? If no thanks anyway! Also, can I replace the hard drive for a bigger 1? If yes, how can i transfer my saved games to the new hard drive without using memory cards? If any of ya can help i'll appreciate it!
go here for the tutorial on the dvd drive swap: http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/dvddrive.php And yes, you can swap the hdd for a larger one. You need to boot evoX (whether from disc or hdd, up to you) and ftp into your xbox from your pc. Then just backup all of c: and e:, swap the hdds, and copy c: and e: back to your new hdd (there is more to it than just that though. make sure to read the full tutorials on www.xbox-scene.com).
liquid51 nice thread:) accept you 4got to mention he needs a modded xbox. since you own a 1.0 xbox theres no point in a mod chip just tsop it and shove a swich on it so you can still play xbox live.
You are reading a mindless signature, please stop reading it now it is mindless, one can only presume you are mindless since you are still reading this mindless signature, Oh my god get a life you mindless person, whats the matter with you, dont you have a girlfreind? mindless mindless mindless
doh! You got me!
yes, it needs to be modded. Sorry about that :P
Here's that switched tsop mod tutorial: http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/tsop-live-1mb.php But if this sounds like it might be too much for you to start up with (or you don't like the idea of drilling or soldering), I do recommend spending the extra $50-$65 for a chip with a solderless adapter. It takes a lot of the risk out of the modding, especially if you don't trust your shaky hands :P
Thanks liquid51 for all the info! Well I was trying just to replace my dvd drive for a dvd+rw drive so i can load my backup cds and Games. Thats why i didnt talk about mod chips cause i thought that the dvd+rw drive would read the Backups without adding a chip(that was my point). But if i still have to buy the xecuter lite plus, I will. And what site u recommend me to buy it from? hey, and dont forget to tell me more about the adapter for the xecuter lite+. I just wanted to get rid of that dvd drive that always says the same fuc***g error!
you absolutely must have a hacked bios in order to bypass copyright protection. A standard dvd drive won't change anything (except for being able to read a much wider range of media, and much more reliably, which is really only beneficial if you have a hacked bios).
I don't know much about xecuter chips as I've never used one (I'm sure their a great chip), but I recommend the xenium chip from ozxodus.com. I use it and love it. Mainly because it has a really nice os that makes bios config and booting incredibly simple and very easily recovered should anything go awry. They have a pretty nice solderless adapter as well. Go to ozxodus.com to read more.
