Sources: http://www.wcwmedia.com/products.asp?Category=DVD-Rs and http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/FOR_DVD_R_RW_CLICK_HERE.html

These are not grade A discs and are quite poor quality. Problems range from dust and other particles throughout the discs as well as scratches and other marks on the writing surface.

I reported this problem to Steve at blankdiscshop.co.uk in February and they are still supplying the same quality discs.

Just my two eurocents worth.

Yeah, go figure. I will be ordering the more expensive CloneDisc brand from http://www.dvd-and-media.com/ instead. Their prices recently dropped, so I feel a little less aggreived :)

Well, I just took delivery of 50 CloneDisc, and I'm less than impressed! They are certainly not the flawless examples I was expecting.

I wonder if they even are CloneDisc. How do I tell?

Purchased from http://www.dvd-and-media.com/.

After picking up tonights emails I have to congratulate SVP (blankdiscshop.co.uk) on some outstanding customer service.

They are courier collecting my duff discs so they can inspect them and they are sending me replacement goods to the value of the original discs (I've gone for some printer inks and some other bits&bobs).

All at no cost to me. Not often you see that kind of customer service.

Full marks to the folks at SVP (Steve, Ed and Lucy in the returns dept).

Yeah I have been toying with ordering after hearing good reports on them from Oriphus....

Why do you claim they are not faultless? I mean nothing is 100% faultless but what particular problem have you encountered?

I bought some from a computer show in believing these are PIODATA and also annoyingly told these are PIODATA as well. After using 2 cake box, 6 coaster while some offer jerky copy of films.
Only place to get reliable Piodata discs I know is at SCAN computers (www.scan.co.uk)

Im not sure if you were asking me were the faultless or not. I have used and still used Clone Disc and i havent received a dodgy disc yet. In fact, they are the exact same disc as the Traxdata ones, made in the same factory and www.dvd-and-media.com are an official Ritel supplier in the UK so they can be guaranteed grade A. However, there are always going to be bad batches of any disc, no matter how stringent Ritek are....

What is the problem with them?

Hi VinylPush and everyone else on this thread. I can gaurantee the quality of the CloneDisc DVD media because I buy it direct from Ritek and sell it exculsively through our website... VinylPush if you ordered through my website then email me your order number and I will get some new discs sent out to you straight away! The Clonedisc is not always in stock because we always make sure its the best quality disc and it always has the white inkjet printable surface.

What would worry me is if you bought a "CloneDisc" from someone other than dvd-and-media... if that happend then I would be very dubious as to weather it was indeed the disc I sell!!

Anyone who is ever disheartend with any disc or service they receive from my company feel free to email me directly - simon@dvd-and-media.com

As I have said on threads before, a great deal of Ritek imported into this county is of lesser grade - its not always easy to tell but anything which has been overprinted isnt grade A - like Arita (B and C grade), Mountain Water (D and E Grade)... all I can say is that now prices for the true A grade are coming down stick to that!

By the way VinylPush what problem did you have with the Clone ?? And also look for brand new prices on the Clone at the end of this week!!

I guess I'm just having a run of bad luck (hey, it happens to the best of us!).

I've got an unused 25pk of the CloneDiscs in front of me. They are better than the discs purchased from SVP, but I got the impression (maybe wrongly) that there would be no trace of dust etc in a stack of CloneDisc discs.

It's nothing I cant get rid of off the disc before burning, but it's just a slight annoyance.

Before I purchased my nicy shiny (oh how I covet it) Canon i865 I had a big stack of those frosted top Riteks (not the cheap ones, the proper Ridata or Ridisc (whatver) ones) and they were (trust me) flawless. No dust, no marks on the writing surface, just pure purple all the way...

No offence intended to you MrYang (I did purchase the discs from your company), I'm sure I will have no trouble recording to these discs and I'm also sure they will last a long time. I'm just a fussy git. Thank-you for your kind offer of replacements but that's not necessary, I'm sure the next lot will be fine.

In conclusion (and bearing in mind I've drunk a few fingers of brandy at this point in the evening): -

Shit Happens.

LOL :)
