I believe this is my first post here as I have always found the answer in the forums over the past 3 years. many thanks to all the help you have given me. I was surprised that I could not find the answer this time around. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

My problem is this. I wnat to end up with an ISO image of a DVD. I know the process for ripping and creating the image from the DVD, but what to do if you only have the ripped files (video_ts folder)? Before, I used to rip the DVD and then backup same to a blank. However, now I am trying to get the DVD (sometimes greater than 4.7) to an image which will fit on one DVD or CD (svcd, vcd, kvcd, etc.). Will dvd shrink fit this process or is there some other software which would do the trick? I have used dvd shrink in the past with great success. Also, what can I use to shrink an image down? Or can it be shrunk after creation? Or, should the shrink process of an image be done before the image is created?

Like I said, I could not find the answers to these questions in any forums so, thanks for the help.

Hi satanic,

Indeed Shrink can output an ISO image file (which will fit on a DVD-R by default). The input can be a DVD in the PC drive or a folder on your hard disk. And the input can even be an ISO image if you mount it (for instance with Daemon Tools or Nero ImageDrive).

If you don't want Shrink to compress the source files, just set the compression ratio to "No compression" for every item on the DVD, or set the DVD-R capacity to 8500 MB (4464 by default).

Cheers,

Daba
