The Dish Network has announced this week that it plans to let subscribers watch satellite TV programming on their mobile devices, for free, in the near future. Starting in September, the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and BlackBerry devices will get the free functionality via an app. Android devices will get the service a month later. LOL...that isn't much of a service! You can already do something similar to this with free software and an old TV tuner. When I read the headline, I figured that they did something really smart...like creating a kind of "online DVR" that has multiple versions of the videos...apple format for apple, optimized flash for android, and maybe something for HD viewing on laptops as well.
