Hi, I was wondering since I am new to backing up ps2 games why I got an error thru dvd decrypter. As far as reading and transfering the file (socom) to the pc drive that was successfull, however when I was writing the cd dvd decrypter prompted an error which is as follows: Failed to write sectors 29632-29647-cannot format medium-incompatible medium. The error showed up after writing 1% of the iso file. I was wondering how to fix this. I was also trying to write on a cdr instead of dvdr. I wanted to try out the cdr first before I spent money on a dvdr. ONe thing I forgot to mention was before actually performing iso write dvd decrypter warned me that there was not enough space on the disk. Is there a way to fit one game on 2 or three cdr's. The reason for this is that my other ps2 does not have magic 3 version. It has the old mod chip which requires games shark to boot. Are there any proceedures I missed. I simply decrypted the game in iso read and once file was done wrote in iso form per dvd decrypter. Also when I checked the folder where the game file was in I noticed the socom file that is a substantial amount of kb's and also an mds file which I did not select. I only selected the bigger file. Any help would be very much appreciated. thanx

Sorry forgot to add this to message... If writing to cdr instead of dvdr are there any extra proceedures? Such as DVD Shrink, I was just wondering because I have noticed on the forum that this software is named all the time, what is it exactly and what is it used for. Is it even possible to fit any ps2 games on one cdr disk? again thank you.

here's a few answers
the error most likly appeared because you tried to burn a dvd based game to a cdr and there just ain't enough space(4.7 gb dvdr Vs 700mb cdr)
dvd shrink is used for backing up movies from dvd9 to dvd5 discs and wont help you with ps2 games
you can "rip" your ps2 games so they fit on cdr but to do this you will need to find a rip kit for the game or do it your self(needs quite a few pieces of software,a lot of time and some knoledge of what your doing)but its a long process
if you checkout this thread it tells you how to boot dvd backups with gameshark http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/15105
also unless the iso file is split into multiple parts you dont need to bother with the mds file
hope this answers your questions
