Hello,
I've been having trouble shrinking the first disc of the Dave Chapelle show to a burnable size. I've tried DVD2onex and dvdremaster both of which crash right away. I've never had trouble with either program and have used them with other DVDs since my Chapelle problems. What I've done is this:

1. I first tried to rip the video_ts file with DVDBackup (my usual method) but it didn't work.

2. So I used osex to make a disc image and then copied the video_ts directory to my harddrive with DVDBackup.

3. I tried DVD2onex (my usual method) and it shut off right away.

4. I tried DVDRemaster and it also shut off before doing any work.

Any suggestions? I know that my software is limited on a mac (powerbook g4), but maybe that's the problem. Right now, I have no idea, particularly since Disc 2 of the Chapelle show ripped, shrank, and burned fine.

Thank you for your help,
Abe

Using 0sex try this: In the Fmt. drop down menu choose DVD Folders and select in the OPTS (options) menu P4 (VOBU) as the key refresh rate.

Hi
Thanks for the advice. I tried what you suggested with osex (I've never played around with those options before) and came out with a Video_ts folder which I then opened with DVD2OneX but, about half way through, I got the error message "Error copying disc - IFO doesn't match with VOB file" and then another Alert that was about how I neeed to copy all files from the DVD in file mode. Were there settings I needed to change in DVD2OneX? Should I use DVDremaster?
Thanks again,
Abe

Try ripping the movie using Hades (be patient it does not
show that it is doing anything. When it starts your DVD icon
on
your desktop disappears and when it is finished the icon
reappears and you get a spoken alert) and run DVD2OneX on
the VIDEO_TS folder you get.

When copying the whole DVD you get much better results
using DVDRemaster (M2VDownsizer at best quality) though it
is really slow but you can run it overnight or in the
background if you have a dual processor.

Let me know if Hades did the trick.

Hey
Thanks so so much. The Hades method worked perfectly. I'd never even heard of the program.
Thanks,
Abe
