The WSJ is reporting this weekend that Chinese electronics giant Lenovo is creating a video game console, dubbed the eBox.
Lenovo has created a new subsidiary, the Beijing eedoo Technology company to build the console.
The eBox will have controller-free gaming, which will likely be similar to Microsoft's upcoming Kinect motion control system.

Wow...the first half of that sentence really makes the Kinect sound like a terrible idea. Even the wii has gotten a gamepad...yet it seems everyone else is a few years behind in realizing how dumb non-controller controls are...I am sure they will be better in the future, but until we see the holodeck from startrek or the neural glasses from Lawnmower Man, I'm not getting my hopes up.
Actually I expect this will sell, in China, they usually make their own systems rather importing others. They have one of the strongest economies so far, and no doubt, their technology for their people is mostly local, they have millions of people working for exports so they don't really need to import anything. It keeps their $ strong, so we can make in fun of them for creating a system that rips off Kinect, but make no mistake, as long as the 360 can't sell in China, they will make $ off this.

I almost always enjoy your posts. You crack me up cause I was thinking the same thing about stuff like the holodeck, nueral glasses, and the Matrix. Count me out as well. LOL
mine as well stop now. it just wont work in our homes. you have to already compete with the wii, ps3 and xbox360. It better wipe my a**! if u want it to even come close. and besides controller free is for kids and you and your facebook friends to hang out and play with. Not for the hardcore gamers. We like our controllers.
