I have Swap Magic CD and DVD (both Version 2). I've been using the CD with good results for almost a year now -- it plays any game at or around 700mb.

I'm planning on buying a DVD burner for DVD based ps2 games. Yet, as I read through the forum, a few questions came to me.

1)On the stickied swap magic help thread, it says the DVD swap disk doesn't work well with all games. What does that mean? I don't have a flip-top, so the alternate means of getting the DVD to work that thread provides won't work for me. Basically I'm asking this: will the DVDs I burn (if all is done correctly) work with the DVD swap disk? If not, elaborate please (Ignoring any games on swapmagicfix.com).

2)I've been reading in some threads that certain dvds can't be read by certain versions of ps2s. Which types of DVDs work on which version of ps2s? Or, if it's easier, which versions won't work with certain types of dvds?

3)This is sort of a general, all-encompassing question: With swap magic DVD and CD (v.2.0) and the slide key, is buying a dvd burner a safe bet? Or will I likely run into problems?

A huge thanks to anyone who can help me (questions 1 and 2 especially)!

if you ignore the problem games on swapmagic fix then you should have no or very few problems booting dvd backups with swapmagic(i have over 80 backups that work fine with swapmagic 2 all burnt on ritek dvd-r with my pioneer writer)

media and the ps2 this is just a general rule there is always exceptions goes like this
version 1-3 won't work with dvd+r
version 4 some work with dvd+r some dont
version 5-10 work with dvd+r
all versions read dvd-r

if you use good quatity media and burn your dvd backups at a reasonable speed then you should have very few problems booting your backups with swapmagic and the slidecard

That's definately good to hear.

What about DVD-rw disks?

would not recomend dvd-rw discs for game backups(might be ok in the latest v9-10 ps2)as i have tried to use them myself for testing out games(eg when doing the fix on sonic heroes)and could not get them to boot but the same dvd-rw disc will play in my v7 ps2 with a movie backup on it
