It has come to my attention that some of the Newbies may want to know a little about the use of DVD ROM emulators that simulate a physical disc drive using ISO or NRG files.[/bold}

I've explained it before. Don't know if you caught the thread. So here we go again. A virtual drive makes the computer think it is a physical drive. Say you write an ISO file to the drive with Decryptor, you can load it on a virtual drive (DAEMON is the best and free) and do anything you can with a normal drive. My favorite set up for recording is DVD Decrypter (in the ISO read mode) + DAEMON (to load the ISO file) + DVD Shrink + Nero. That combination is like having a sledgehammer in velvet gloves. Decrypter is better at ripping than Shrink. Shrink is probably the best editor, especially since it is free. DAEMON is one of the best CD/DVD ROM emulators and it is a freebie. And nobody can beat the Shrink/Nero combo for burning a disc. So the combo reads rip-load-edit-burn with DVD Decryter + DAEMON + DVD Shrink + Nero. DAEMON can be found and downloaded at this URL http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/download.php . Some people download files in ISO form. You can use DAEMON to load the file and the computer will handle the file like reading from a disc drive. The computer assigns an emulator a drive letter similar to the other drives. (C:) is the hard drive followed by the disc drives. If you have only one, the physical disc would be (D:) and the emulator would be (E:) . If you have an ISO movie file on the hard drive, you can play the movie on your monitor the same as you would with a disc in the DVD player. (That is one of the best ways to insure the file you are going to burn has no problems.) Load the ISO file on DAEMON, the computer opens the screen asking what you want to open with and you open with the player as you would a disc. I think you should be getting the idea by now. Anything you can do with a disc, DAEMON can do with an ISO file from the hard drive. DAEMON will recognize ISO files and NRG files (Image Recorder) files created by Nero. It will not recognize Video_TS files. The good guides for DAEMON, DVD Decryter, and DVD Shrink can be found here at AfterDawn or at Doom9.org. These guides will show the relationship between the programs. Remember to work with the ISO files.
