Hello, thanks for looking.

I am burning a backup of Monsters Inc. First, I used SmartRipper and saved the files to C:\Monsters Inc

Then I went to DVD2AVI and played a few seconds of the movie. Then I chose from the AUDIO menu: Track Number--Track 1.
From AUDIO MENU again I went to DOLBY DIGITAL DECODE and then chose Dolby Surround DownMix, then chose 48->44.1khz from the AUDIO MENU and chose ULTRA HIGH. Then I went to the FILE MENU and chose Save File.

After all this I go into TMPGEnc (after the files are done) and chose the video file which I saved as C:\Monster Inc\1.d2v
Then I try to open an audio file and nothing comes up. I look for a .wav file and nothing comes up. So I go to all files and chose 1.d2v file and it won't load for audio.

So I went into my computer to make sure the audio files work and they do. There are three of them...the first one is from the movie, the second is background noise and the this is more character stuff...so anyway, I opened the files in Media Player and they work fine. They are all ac3 files.

Why can I not get the files to open in TMPGEnc? Did I leave out a step? Please help me and thank you for your time.

Did you use the "save project" in the DVDtoAVI file menu? This should create a .d2v file AND a .wav file...

Two things (and they may sound silly, but bear with me)

1. Did you check you were checking the same folder as the .d2v file?

2. Check the drop box at the bottom of the open dialog, and make sure that the first one is selected (ie all compressible audio source, or something like that.)

And one stupid question, can you find the .wav file when you hunt around in your hard drive?

Paul.

On the audio listing of files to look for, *.AC3 *isn't* listed. So I assume it isn't one of the compatible ones. Instead I changed the output to .WAV in DVD2AVI, from AUDIO>OUTPUT METHOD>DECODE TO WAV . This takes significantly longer tho.

Hopes this helps.

Sheckle for an ex-leper?
