Ok, i dont want to expirement with expensive media. Can anyone suggest the best 4x or 8x dvd(-)(+)r media for backin up dvd's? Quality is concern #1. Also, for dvd backups, should i go with dvd-r, dvd+r, or something else?

I would recommend Verbatim. Buy them bulk at an online auction for about a dollar each. They are very good. I've heard Ritek is good too. + or - is kind of a personal preference, but mostly relies on what format your system (player and recorder) uses.

You'll find that most here use Ritek G04 media. It is superior quality and very reasonbly priced. I buy the RiDATA branded Riteks from newegg.com, 50 spindle for $39.99 and free shipping.

Two others would be Verbatim Metal AZO ot Taiyo Yuden.

It doesn't get any better than those three.

As Nephilium stated (he usually beats me to stating these things) we tend to use Ritek here on this forum mostly, make sure you get grade A high quality such as the RiData, traxdata or Clone Disc. Also Taiyo Yuden are very good too....

I'm new to DVD Media.. I have always used Memorex CDR's for SVCD movies. Where does Memorex and Maxell DVD+R media for DVD Backups/Clones compare to the 3 you suggested above, and can you tell me what Grade the Memorex DVD+R are that I am using now?
