Geohot's Limera1n forces delay of GreenPois0n

Yesterday, George "Geohot" Hotz announced the first RC of an untethered jailbreak for all iOS devices, dubbing the jailbreak Limera1n.
The jailbreak works on the iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3/4G, iPad, and iPhone 4 but it also apparently spoiled the party for another highly touted jailbreak solution.

i really do not like Geohotz after the ps3 scene he just seems like he's an attention wh*re
PUT MINE OUT FIRST! even if its shitty just so i get the attention and who gives a sh*t about the other devs as long as i get the attention
at least he's working on it but i still think it would almost be better if he wasn't
i won't deny i have done simular things but generally it's not a huge thing that thousands will use
and it doesn't undermine the others

After his release of Blackra1n (a jailbreak tool released just about a year ago) he kinda went fame crazy. A few months ago he deleted his Twitter and posted some comments to get even more attention.
He's talented but he's too far up his own ass.

Apparently if it wasn't for geohot's progress in the PS3 scene earlier this year, there wouldn't have been a jailbreak for the PS3, so I'm thankful of that. Oh so the use of other OS was lost, but may soon be back with the PS3 jailbreak tools... :D
I do agree though, that what he has done this weekend was reckless, but people are only getting pissy about it, because he "conveniently" released his tool a day before chronicdev. He beat chronicdev to it and that's that. Ok, so there are bugs, but every piece of software has bugs in the early stages and its upto early adopters to report bugs so they can be fixed.Usually that's what beta testers are for, but this is one or two people, not a team... >.<
Another thing, why are people getting so worked up about limera1n delaying greenpoison? at the end of the day, the people wanted a new jailbreak for iOS devices that wasn't userland and they got it. What was greenpoison going to do that limera1n doesn't?
People whinge about jailbreaks for new firmware not getting here quick enough, and then when one does everybody moans about it. No wonder he "quit" (will be using that term loosely) in the first place... >.<

I LOVE Geohot. He rulez jailbreaks and I will definitely donate for his efforts!! Green is an ugly color for dev-team! A little sportsmanship is in order when someone beats you to the finish line!

What do you mean beat them to the finish line? The asshole released and explained how his exploit worked so they had no other choice but to delay it. What is sportsman like about that? They could have gone and done the same thing but they just decided to use his code instead. Read the whole story first.

Sorry I meant he explain what his* exploit was, so now they will use his exploit for now until apple patches it because they already know how it works thanks to him.

You say that he beat chronicdev to the release...in terms of time this is true, but chronicdev actually tested his software to get it working correctly...if he had released an early alpha like geoNot did, he would have released it long ago. As for why people are angry at the chronicdev delay, they knew his software would work correctly and smoothly; unlike GeoSnot's crap.
As for the PS3, he should never have started. It is questionable if he had anything to do with the current break (his code was not included in the first jailbreak devices; it was only added later). In fact, his break REQUIRED linux to work...and the first jailbreaks would not run on any firmware but 3.41.

Children really need to learn how to play nice. like edited by ddp me no wonder i hate stupid internet users, all they do is complain that their edited by ddp is not big enough.
From what i just read stupid things have happened but how about everyone just work together fix the issues and get it out there for the community. Everyone has lost the definition of Community due to Ego's that can not be contained in 10TB hard drives.
It is actions like this that holds back the internet from getting to the future, Grow up shake hands and get on with it.
Geofag included along with internet users, get your head out of your ass and do something constructive, less time flaming and more time developing.

Ah don't you mean, the PS3 crew who got hold of the Sony PS3dev code to change the standard firmware to a dev PS3 firmware mode.
Actually realeased the jailbreak which really isn't a jail break at all as it simply a mode flick that sony have coded into the firmware that that didn't happen then you couldn't use it at all.

I'm pretty sure that it was said somewhere that the SHAtter jailbreak was permanent and un-patchable (greenpo1son website I think) so if I'm right this outburst shouldn't really matter anyway, right?
