We have -R and +R, ok I have been told That -R's are more compatible with standalone players..Ok if that was correct, whats +R's for or what advantage or disadvantahes does one have over the other?

i think its like vhs / betamax 1 company released +r and an other -r ?????
but you can get fasters burning on +r
i use -r on standalone dvds and +r for xbox they seem to play better.

I've used +R in about eight different players with no problems. A large part of the +R compatibility problems came from older players that couldn't deal with them.
