Oracle patches 29 Java, OpenOffice vulnerabilities

article published on 14 October, 2010

Oracle has issued Java and OpenOffice patches today, patching 29 vulnerabilities that would allow attackers to take control of exploited computers. 28 of the vulnerabilities "could be remotely exploitable without authentication (over a network without the need for a username and password)," says Oracle, via ZD. Like they are telling you something. All these fat cats are sitting around keeping their mouths shut knowing their systems are not secure.

DVDBack23, you might want to change the logo for this article to the Java logo. I almost missed the point of the article, which was to announce Java 6 Update 22 is now available for download. OpenOffice users are the minority here.

Visited the site and it updated Java? Then offered the OO v321 but couldn't find patches. Installed 321 on my Wins7 partition. Does that make me safe? Or subject to becoming a botnet? Wins7 home does not run well on this Amd machine. Freezes, stalls. Had to purchase newer AV software when present was 3 months old. Media center stinks with Diamond 650 tv tuner. Doesn't recognize s-video or composite inputs. Have MS office 2003 but won't install that bloatware or maybe it's not compatible with Wins7. Barf.
