i have installed the latest from adaptec but they only install the winaspi32dll and the aspi32 driver , not the wowpost or the winaspi.dll , so i have reverted to the 4.6 version and they all then install but neither cdrwin or easy cd creator will see my drives ??? anyone know what the problem is ?? cheers

The new Adaptec does that - it upgrades two to 4.71.2 and leaves the other two as 4.60. You have two options, though.

ForceASPI 1.7 will install 4.60 to all four entries and ForceASPI 1.8 will the the same with 4.71.2. Whichever you choose there should be a batch file in the folder called KILLASPI which will wipe your layer completely. You can run that, reboot, then install the layer. It's worked for me in the past.

So, just for clarity, neither ForceASPI 1.7 or 1.8 would update all four after running KILLASPI, rebooting and then running INSTASPI?

Very odd if it didn't.

Try 4.60 and uninstall the drive and reboot and try to let windows reinstall it ... you might also want to check if cables got loose.

You had it right the first time. If you read the "README" file, it says only those 2 dll's are to be installed into XP.

so i have reverted to the 4.6 version
Did you try your drives to see if it worked before you went back to v4.60?

I have yet to personally come across a drive that doesnt work :) In either case, with 4.60, did all 4 files have the same version number? (they should)
