cannot read my dvd-rw .......

I have an optorite dd0203 dvd+/-rw drive. A couple of days ago I tried to burn some more family photos onto it ( it already had photos on there from a previous session ) and I noticed that nero didn't see any of the previous files. I tried to look from my computer but this said the disk was empty.

I upgraded the drive firmware to 2.5.0 and nero to v5.5.10.56 but still I couldn't see my photos. My event viewer says that i have a faulting application updmgr.exe and faulting module mfc42.dll.

please can someone help
