Hi all,

I have a couple of simple questions regarding my home setup.

I have Blueyonder cable digital TV ( Pace receiver box ) and a Phillips DVD70 DVD VCR. At the moment they are connected as follows :

SCART from TV socket of BY box to EXT2 on DVD VCR.
SCART from DVD VCR to AV1 socket on TV.

Everything works fine. If I switch on the DVD VCR the screen automatically switches to it. If I turn off the VCR the screen goes back to the decoder output (i.e. TV).

What I would like to achieve (but have failed / can't find the right information) is as follows :

1. Utilise a feature on the VCR whereby the Pace box sends a signal to the VCR to start recording its output.

2. Record a channel from Digital TV whilst watching another channel.

Starting with 2. I think that I will need another decoder and card and use this as the input to the VCR. As the decoder boxes are leased from BY, I can't get hold of one. Is there an alternative box I could use ? How would I obtain another card for use in the second box ?

Point 1. is slightly tricky because I'm not sure that the decoder box has the feature that sends a "record" signal out over the SCART cable. Please correct me if I'm wrong and it is possible. Again, if the box doesn't support this, is there an alternative box I could use ?

Of course, I could be totally wrong on all counts and it may be possible with my setup. I would appreciate hearing from anyone else who has attempted or achieved either of these.

Thanks.
