Sony Dru-530a reads DVDs but not CDs....

My burner doesn't detect any type of CD (whether it's burnt or originial), but it reads burned DVDs and regular DVDs. I tried changing the transfer mode from "DMA if available" to "PIO Only", but that didn't do anything. I also tried updating with Firmware 2.0a, that didn't do anything either. Even tried deleting the dvd burner under "device manager" and letting windows detect it during reboot. That too didn't do anything either... I'm stumped, what should I do??

How new is your burner? If its new, you could swap it for a new one.
