I am thinking to buy a DVD Recorder (the Gateway AR-230 DVD Recorder/Player).
I wanted to know if it would be possible to hook it up to a computer/laptop as well (in other words, to watch the DVD on the PC and not only on the TV) and what would be necessary to do so.

The only way you would be able to hook up the DVD Recorder to the PC so you can watch DVD"s on your PC useing the DVD Recorder is if you had a TV Card or Capture Card of some sort on your PC and you Hooked up the DVD Recorder to the Capture cards Video/Audio Input and watch the Movie that way....
The Quality of the Image displayed on the screen would not be nearly as good as if you had a DVD Drive in your PC(That would be better for watching DVD"s on your PC and you can Get a DVD+RW Burner right now for $39 at TigerDirect) because the Signal comeing from the DVD Recorder would get Converted to Analogue so the TV/Capture Card can read the Signal and then converted back to digital so your PC can display the Image and this degrades the Picture Quality to some degree.....

So basicly you would be better off getting a DVD drive for your PC/Laptop for watching DVD Movies on your PC/Laptop and leave the DVD Recorder for Recording TV Shows and Movies.....
The DVD Drive would cost as much or less than the Card you would need to hook your DVD Recorder up to it and it would be Much more convenient haveing a DVD Drive in your PC/Laptop and the Image quality would be better.....
