After announcing a CDMA iPhone 4 available on its network in February, word also came from Verizon about an iPad that will use its CDMA network. Verizon Communications CFO Francis Shammo revealed the upcoming iPad to Bloomberg, which will feature built in CDMA features. I have a £100 Orange San Francisco (ZTE Blade (Android phone)) on Virgin mobile and get pretty much perfect HSDPA coverage.

A £400+ phone using a newer out of date network standard isn't really news, more stealing from the stupid. But then again, so's selling a phone 'you're holding wrong'.
