PC keeps freezing when using TMPGE

PC keeps freezing when using TMPGE
and when i scan for virus and also when downloading big files form internet,

im using win98se
i have 1.6 gig processor
128 meg,

as stated above my pc keeps freezing
when using the above products,
yet i can still acess the internet and download some files, not all
after a while the pc frezzes and i have to reboot.
i have scanned for a virus (no joy)
i have used spypot (no joy)
i have used adware (no joy)
i have also used stinger (also no joy)

i have a simler problem a few moths back with nero freezing
however i went into msconfig
unticked a few items in start up and everything was fine

i cannot see what is wrong and what im sopposed to do next..
do i need to format the harddrive?

You are NOT supposed to do anything while encodeing with TMPGEnc because Encodeing uses up 100% of your PC"s resources so Of cource your PC will Freeze when trying to do stuff while encodeing...
There is Nothing wrong accept with your trying to use the PC while encodeing....
Even if you had a 4ghz PC with 2gb of Ram your PC would still freeze when trying to run other apps becides TMPGEnc because TMPGEnc will allways useing up 100% of your Resourses while encodeing, Most all Mpeg encoders are Like that ...Cheers

I have been using Nero for several years now but over the last week it is freezing everytime I try to burn mp3s to disc. I see from your post that you had a freezing problem which you were able to fix. I am also using Windows 98se. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Funny thing is that when burning vcds I have no problem.
