I have a DVD ripper that replicates DVD movies without a DVD recorder. It works fine but I can only record on cd-r disck. It tells me I can record on dvd-r but my drive shoots it out and tells me to insert a blank or rewrightable disk. But my disck is fresh out of the box. Why dose it do this?

First off you need to cool it with the all caps. Please read the forum rules :)

If you're referring to a certain software, it would help if you told us what software it is.

What make/model burner are you using?

First let's see, you have a DVD rom that also rips DVD movies but you have no DVD recorder. The rip works fine but you have only have a CD-R which indicates that it works fine. But when you try to record a DVD on it, it rejects your attempt and you are asked to insert a rewritable disk. If you can fit New York City in Key Largo, or an Elephant in the back seat of a Volkswagon, then you've answered your question. Unless you are making a DiVx compression you won't be able to fit a full movie onto a CD-R. Even if you had a DVD burner and wanted the full movie, chances are you will still need to compress it first.
