DVD+VR and DVD+R Compatibility?

Hi,
Does anyone know if a DVD player supports DVD+R(VR) mode if it will also play DVD+R. I am looking to buy a progressive scan DVD Player that will play DVD-R and DVD+R of the Maxell Brand. I have a JVC xv-40 and it plays anything, but I got a big screen now and am looking for a progressive scan DVD player. Sony sells a new model that plays DVD-R and DVD+R(vR). I don't care about vr mode I only want to be able to play +R's?
