I want to convert some .mpg videos from the internet to mpeg-2 for DVDs, but the sound won't export in quicktime, won't show up in Final Cut, and simply dosn't exist in any program except when it's playing. Is there any way to extract the audio from an .mpg file?

Yes..It is called "De-Multiplexing" but if you are Useing a Mac then I don"t think there are any de-multiplexing programs for Mac...PC"s are Better for editing simply because there is a wide variety of Software for PC and there isn"t hardly anything for the Mac.....
If these Mpeg files you got off the Net are 352+240/288-PAL then you don"t have to convert them to Mpeg2 you just have to resample the audio to 48000hz and then author the Files to DVD....
