I would use TMPGenc (prepare a VCD, because if the movie is not very short (that is, the movie lenght is 'big'=larger than 100') it will not fit into 2 CDs). Instead, the VCD limit for putting the movie on 2 CDs is 140'!
After the 'blah blah..' of the starting wizard, in which you choose, among them, 'NTSC' or 'PAL' ? 'VCD' or 'SVCD'? and so on, you'll come in the main window, where at the bottom you have Video source, Audio source (by default, the file choosen in video souce) and the Output File Name.
In the bottom line, you'll have three buttons:
setting load save .
Choose 'setting', click 'advanced' (in the 2nd window you can make appear, clicking in the uppermost button bar)
then select 'Source Range' and double click on the writing 'Source Range' .
With a cursor, or putting numbers on 'start frame' and 'end frame' (0 - 'end frame' for the 1st half, 'start frame' - end of movie for the 2nd half) you "clip" your movie (e.g. in a central point). The best would do that between a change in the scene (examine the movie with the cursor, or encreasing by inserting it or encreaing the nr with the arrows, chose 'set end frame' 'go to the end frame'. E.g. when: a character speaks, then the surrounding landscape is shown ==> the scene changes.
In his way the move will not be splitted between a conversation. Of course you'll have to remember the frane of the 1st part to repeat the same thing with the 2nd part
Movie1 0 -----> FrameA
Movie2 FrameA -----> End
Ah, in the 'Video' window (again: in the main window Choose 'setting' and click 'video' in the 1nd window you can make appear using the uppermost button bar) you can set the 'Motion Search Precision'. The Slowest it is, the higher quality you get. Just choose.
After a while you'll end with two MPGs you can use to build your (S)VCD (e.g. with Nero, VCDEasy, VCDGear, to list them in order of their software strength. Nero is lousy, VCDEsasy is very good, VCDGear I dunno but someone said me it's the best).
Got it? It's very easy. It works or any .AVI or .MPG (if you cannot load the .AVI, its codec - e.g. Dix; - is missing and you must install it on your computer).
