A crossover cable is a type of ethernet cable that allows you to network two devices without the need of a hub or a router. if you already have a router there is no need for one, but if dont this is what you need to network two devices.

the best place to get them is ebay, if you dont like to buy online try frys, any other place will rip you off!

Just go to Staples. If you have a regular ethernet cable, you can just cut a few wires and switch them to others (thats what I did), there are a few tuts on this subject.
