if i want to use a slide card, is it necesary to have swap magic disks or can i use gamehark?

It depends on what Gameshark version you have. If you have a Gameshark Version 1/2 the you can use it in conjunction with the cdloader and a high toc original to boot your backups. However if you have a Gameshark V3/4 it will not work. I personally would recomend just getting the swap magic discs but it's up to you.
