ARM Holdings has announced the next step in its plan for computer architecture domination, giving a timetable for the Cortex A15, dual-core designs that can support 16 cores and clock in at 2.5GHz. @Andre, I think you mean a dual-core processor that supports 16 logical cores i.e. instruction pipes. That would mean 8 pipes per core.

The only benefit that comes from this is better multi-tasking and it can actually harm performance under certain circumstances.

I can't see where this is of that much significance to smart phones. Yeah, some multitasking but...

The actual dual-core-ness is great though. I do wish the whole GHz thing was dropped in favour of ips (instructions per second).
